If you feel proud of something, it means that you feel satisfied because it brings you honor or credit.
- She is proud of being the only female pilot in the airline.
You can feel proud of someone for doing something that is difficult.
- Her parents were really proud of her when she finished college.
- I'm proud of myself for running a marathon.
Feeling too proud of yourself can be a negative thing, and people can think you are arrogant.
- My boss is too proud to admit he was wrong.
When you do someone proud, you make them look good. For example: “Our son’s graduation speech was inspirational. He did us proud.”
Pride is what you feel when you’re proud.
