Pursuit is the act of following in order to catch, capture or kill.

  • The lion was in pursuit of the zebra.
  • The police officer was in pursuit of the thief.

Pursuit also is an effort to attain something.

  • In his pursuit to complete a marathon, Ted ran every morning.
  • Andrea's pursuit to read five books a week gave her little time for anything else.
