A craving is a strong desire or yearning.

  • The politician had a craving for power.
  • The vegan was disturbed by his craving for steak.
  • Sue has a craving for a cigarette every morning.

Common uses

Craving is also the present participle of the verb crave (to long for). Example: “The baby is craving for her mother’s affection.”
