If you go away, it means that you leave a place.

If you are away, it means that you aren’t at home or work.

We can use away, when we talk about how far something is from us.

Common uses
When you want someone to leave because you aren’t happy with them, or because you want to be alone, you can say, “Go away!” For example, “Go away! I don’t want to talk to you.”
