If someone is pretty, it means that they look good to you.
- There were lots of pretty girls at the party.
If something is pretty, it means that it looks good to you, usually in a cute way.
- They bought a pretty little house in the country.
If something is pretty good (or pretty bad) it means that it was quite good, but not extremely.
- That movie was pretty good.
Common uses
When we’re asking someone to do something for us, and they aren’t sure about it, we can say “Pretty please?” to show that we really want it. For example, “Can I use your car tomorrow?” “I don’t know…” “Please? Pretty please?”
